CAUTIONS
1. Undiscovered shoals may exist around charted shoals. Mariners are advised to exercise caution.
2. Depths are very changeable at the entrance to river mouths.
   Mariners are advised to exercise caution.
3. Ranges of lights shown on this chart are the least values of either nominal ranges or geographic ranges.
4. Anchor chains extend within 300m radius of Kawasaki Sea-Berth (35-28.0N. 139-46.1E).
5. The observatory on Futtsu Misaki may be mistaken for Daiichi Kaiho (Fort No 1).
6. Daiichi Kaiho and Daini Kaiho (Forts No 1 and No 2) may be confused with ships.

SECTION WHERE VESSELS MUST USE THE TRAFFIC ROUTES
1. Uraga Suido Traffic Route
   In the case of navigation between Line A and Line B --,vessels must use the whole of Uraga Suido Traffic Route.
   In the case of navigation between Line A and Line C --,vessels must use the section of Uraga Suido Traffic Route which is south of the line bearing 235 degree from southwest of Daiichi Kaiho.
   In the case of navigation between Line A and Line D --,vessels must use the section of Uraga Suido Traffic Route which is south of the line bearing 188.5 degree from Daini Kaiho Light.
2. Naka-no-Se Traffic Route
   In the case of navigation between Line a and Line b --,vessels must use the whole of Naka-no-Se Traffic Route.
   In the case of navigation between Line a and Line c --,vessels must use the section of Naka-no-Se Traffic Route which is south of the 95 degree line from the position 4,500m 66.5 degree from the summit of Enkai San.
   This line is shown on the chart (joining 35-22.63N 139-38.35E and 35-22.05N 139-46.43E).
   The regulation above mentioned (only for the Naka-no-Se Traffic Route) is not applied to vessels of 20m draught and over.

DESIGNATED ROUTE
1. Designated Route in the Naka-no-Se West Sea Area
(1) Vessels navigating in Naka-no-Se West Sea Area southward should navigate in the area to the west of Line A.
(2) Vessels navigating in Naka-no-Se West Sea Area northward (excluding vessels navigating for Negishi, Section 5 Yokohama Ku in Keihin Ko) should
- Navigate in the area to the east of Line A; until turning their course to the destination ports.
- Navigate in the area more than 400m off Line C when their draft is 20m or more.

2. Designated Route in the Sea Area Near the Kisarazu Ko Offing Light Beacon
(1) Vessels leaving Kisarazu Ko and navigating in the vicinity of the  northern gate way of Naka-no-Se Traffic Route should keep Kisarazu Ko Offing  Light Beacon on the port side.

3. Designated Route in the Sea Area Near Tokyo Wan Aqua - Line East Fairway
(1) Vessels navigating, for the purpose of passing through, Tokyo Wan Aqua -Line East Fairway southward should
 - Navigate in the area to the west side of Line A;
 - Navigate close to Line A when navigating from Chiba; and
 - Navigate away from Line A when navigating from Tokyo.
(2) Vessels navigating, for the purpose of passing through, Tokyo Wan Aqua -Line East Fairway northward should
- Navigate in the area to the east of Line A;
- Navigate away from Line A when navigating toward Chiba; and
- Navigate close to Line A when navigating toward Tokyo.

4. Designated Route in the Sea Area Near the Tokyo Offing Light Buoy
(1) Vessels navigating within the circular area, radius 1,850m centered on Tokyo Offing Light Buoy (excluding Section 4 of Tokyo Ku, Keihin Ko) should keep this buoy on their port side.
(2) For further details, consult Pub. No. 301, South and East Coasts of Honshu.

AREA ENTRY NOTIFICATION (DESIGNATED SEA AREA)
Vessels of 50m in length and upwards (excluding vessels which are equipped with and operating a class-A AIS) should report on VHF to Tokyo Wan Vessel Traffic Service Center (Tokyo MARTIS) when entering the designated sea area.
 Information to be reported;
- Vessel's name and call sign
- Position of vessel at time of notification
- Destination port (quay, anchorage) if the destination port is decided
- Draft and length of vessel

SEA AREAS WHERE VESSELS SHOULD LISTEN TO INFORMATION PROVIDED
Vessels of 50m in length and upwards navigating in the sea areas defined by Maritime Traffic Safety Law and
Vessels of over 500G/T navigating in the sea areas defined by Act on Port Regulations should listen to information provided by Tokyo Wan Vessel Traffic Service Center (Tokyo MARTIS).
In addition advice to alter course or take another necessary action may be issued to these vessels whenever necessary to prevent danger.

INFORMATION MONITORING REQUIREMENT IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY DISASTER
In the event of an emergency disaster, vessels in Tokyo Wan should listen to provided information related to emergency disasters.
Restriction and order may be enacted. For further details, consult Pub. No. 301, South and East Coasts of Honshu.

INSTRUCTION TO WAIT OFF THE TRAFFIC ROUTE
Vessels may be instructed to wait off the traffic route under certain conditions (including poor visibility).

NAVIGATIONAL SAFETY
1. Navigation in the vicinity of Tokyo Offing Light Buoy (35-32-30N, 139-51-24E).
 (1) Vessels navigating within the circular area, radius 1,850m centered on Tokyo Offing Light Buoy, should keep this buoy on their port side.
 (2) Vessels shall not anchor within a 1,850m radius of Tokyo Offing Light Buoy.
2. Navigation in the vicinity of Tokyo International Airport, Runway D.
 (1) Vessels with a height of 28.4m or more above sea level should not enter the sea area adjacent to the passage route within the Runway D height base level.
 (2) Vessels with a height of 28.4m or less above sea level should navigate the north-east side of Runway D of Tokyo International Aiport East Light Beacon.
3. Vessels, excluding those approved by the airport authorities, must not enter the sea area adjacent to the airport designated by yellow light-buoys installed around Runway D island.
4. Navigation in the vicinity of Tokyo Wan Aqua - Line East Fairway.
 (1) Vessels of 3,000G/T or more which navigate to the north from Naka-no-Se Traffic Route and its east side sea area to Tokyo Wan Aqua - Line shall navigate Tokyo Wan Aqua - Line East Fairway.
 (2) Vessels of 10,000G/T or more which navigate from other sea areas toward Tokyo Wan Aqua - Line shall navigate Tokyo Wan Aqua - Line East Fairway.
 (3) Vessels shall not anchor on the Tokyo Wan Aqua - Line East Fairway.
5. Area Entry Notification is also requested from vessels of 100 G/T and upwards with a carrying capacity of 30 persons or more (excluding vessels which are equipped with and operating a class-A AIS).
6. Vessels equipped with VHF should maintain contact with Tokyo Wan Vessel Traffic Service Center (Tokyo MARTIS) (CH16, 156.8MHz) while navigating in the traffic routes, approaches to the traffic routes and the adjacent sea area, as information for the safety of navigation may be provided by the Center.
