TRAFFIC SEPARATION SCHEMES AND ROUTEING
For the latest information on individual schemes and IMO mandatory routes
for certain tankers and other vessels, see the Netherlands Coast Pilot (HP1)
or ADMIRALTY Sailing Directions.

SUBMARINE CABLES AND PIPELINES
Mariners are advised not to anchor or trawl in the vicinity of submarine
cables and pipelines. Pipelines are not always buried and their presence may significantly reduce the
charted depth. They may also span seabed undulations and cause fishing gear to become irrecoverably
snagged, putting a vessel in severe danger.

VESSEL REPORTING
For details of the Terschelling, Delfzijl/Eemshaven and Ems Vessel Traffic
Services, see the Netherlands Coast Pilot (HP1) or ADMIRALTY List of Radio Signals.

NAVIGABLE WATERWAYS
Between the seaward delimitations of the navigable waterways and the German territorial sea apply the
regulations mentioned under § 1para (2) of the 'Seeschiffahrtstrassenordnung' and the navigation
rules of the Collision Regulations. For further details see 'Mariners Routeing Guide', 'Seehandbuch'
or Admiralty Sailing Directions.

HIGH SPEED CRAFT
Take into account the traffic of high speed craft between Emden and Borkum.

DEPTHS AND AIDS TO NAVIGATION
The channels and depths shown on this chart are subject to frequent change. The buoyage and other
aids to navigation are adjusted accordingly. For the latest information see BaZ (Netherlands Notice to
Mariners) or consult pilotage authorities.

TIDAL STREAMS
Attention is drawn to the strong tidal streams in these waters. For tidal streams and tidal information
see HP 33 Tidal heights and streams for coastal waters of the Netherlands and adjacent waters and
HP 33D-NLTides published by the Netherlands Hydrographer.

WINTER-BUOYAGE
From ± December-March buoyage may be replaced by winter-buoyage. In severe winters buoyage
is withdrawn. Buoyage will be replaced in order of importance. In spring it is possible that not
all channels are already buoyed as charted.

CAUTION
In these waters supplementary marks for pleasure craft and special marks for watersports like
waterskiing, kite surfing, jetskiing and fast motorboats and areas under the Nature Conservation
Act are on station from ± April-October.

HET RIF & SIMONSZAND
Prohibited from 3 hours before HW to 3 hours after HW Lauwersoog.

FIRING EXERCISES
During firing exercises the SMW 1 to SMW 10 buoys exhibit an Al. white/red light. Moreover when this
happens the passage through the Groningerbalg and the alternative fairway Lutjewad is prohibited.

EB 16 - EB 26 BUOYS
It is requested not to stop, drift or anchor between the buoys EB 16 and EB 26.
