a) West Route (Poniente):
This is the route best supported by landmarks. Punta de los Tablones comprises three separate groups of rocks. The southern group has two peaks divided by a small central basin, plus another rock which is bigger and closer to the shore. Set course to the southern rock, and when close two shoals (A & A) will become visible and can be easily recognized by the waves they cause, sometimes including breakers. Identifying these shoals can be difficult if there is no wind and the sea is calm, however they will be visible in plain sight during the approach.

Navigate the passage between the shoals setting course to Mount Lube, which is located straight ahead and easily recognized by its conical shape and the two small rocky outcroppings (Marks 1 & 2) on each side of its base.

The vessel should reach the line from the basin of the second group of rocks (of the three groups that comprise Punta de los Tablones) to the mountain peak over the hills on the right of Camp Byers, sail to starboard towards the landing spot, which is located at the end of the path from the beach to the Camp.

b) East Route (Levante):
Starting at position 62-40-51S 61-03-46W follow the bearing of 308 until rock (D) south of Punta de los Tablones lines up with Vietor Rock.
When they are in line, sail to starboard to keep both rocks in their apparent relative positions, taking care not to progress past that line. Sail on until clear of two major shoals (B & B) SE of the landing spot. Finally, set course to the shore with extreme caution.

c) Departure Route from the landing spot in low tide:
Due to the lack of landmarks, this route is not recommended for vessels attempting the landfall. It is however useful when attempting to leave the beach during low tide, when many rocks become exposed. From the landing spot, leave a large slab of rock (E) which is exposed in low tide to the port side. Next to the rock there is one shoal (C) and then another shoal to the SW (C), and the only passage to navigable waters for small craft is between them .
