DEPTHS AND HEIGHTS

Depths and heights in metres, referred to Mean Sea Level (Baltic Height System BHS77).
To calculate depths and heights to European Vertical Reference System (EVRS) realization
in territory of Lithuania (LHS07,depths values on charshould be reduced by 13 cm and
heights values should be increased by 13 cm.


VESSEL TRAFFIC DIVISION

Radio contact by VHF CHANNEL 9, call sign Klaipeda radio 5.
Radio contact by VHF CHANNEL 71, call sign Terminal control.


WRECKS - GENERALIZATION

Not all wrecks and obstructions are charted inside 20 mmetres depth contour. See Charts at larger scales.


ENVIRONMENTALLY SENSITIVE SEA AREA (ESSA)

Activity restrictions apply in these areas.

FORMER MINED AREAS

Former Mined Areas are open for navigation.It is not advised to
anchor, trawl, dredge or conduct other operations near the seabed, as
danger of possible mines and other explosives exists in these areas.


MILITARY PRACTICE AREA

Due to the danger to safe navigation, shipping may be temporarily restricted during military 
exercises in the military practice areas. Information on military exercises is disseminated via 
NAVTEX and provided on the Administration's website.


FORMER MILITARY PRACTICE AREA (Area No 102)

Former Mined Areas are open for navigation. It is not advised to anchor, trawl or conduct other operations near the seabed, as danger of mines and other explosives exists in this area.


FISHING  NETS

Uncharted fishing nets can be laid in Lithuanian coastal areas inside the 20 m depth contour.


BUTINGE OIL TERMINALS

Shipping, maneuvering, fishing or other activity in
Butinge oil terminal area, tankers fairway and tankers
anchorage area are prohibited, except ships passing to the
terminal for load or unload cargo and terminal service
ships.


EXPLOSIVES DUMPING GROUND

Anchoring, trawling, carrying out underwater explosions and other underwater activities are 
prohibited in this area.


SPOIL GROUND

Depths in Spoil Ground Areas may be less than charted.


HISTORIC WRECKS

The sites of historic wreck are protected from unauthorised exploration and interference. Zones of 350 to 500 m in radius have been established around such wrecks.


SUBMARINE CABLE

Anchoring, fishing and any underwater works are prohibited within a safety zone extending 100 m on both sides of the submarine cable.


LITHUANIA - LATVIA MARITIME BORDER

Agreement regarding sea boundary determination is not ratified.
