Amendment 07-23 to the IMSBC Code
This updated version includes new cargo information requirements and contains other revisions to the schedules and procedures for the safe carriage of solid bulk cargoes.
Key changes in the 2025 edition (Amendment 07-23)
Mandatory date: The changes from Amendment 07-23 became mandatory on January 1, 2025.
Bulk density: The shipper's declaration for cargo must now include the "bulk density" to ensure proper stability calculations.
New cargoes: Fourteen new cargoes have been added, and Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) has been introduced to the Code.
Reclassification of fish meal: Fish meal has been reclassified from Group B to a Materials Hazardous only in Bulk (MHB) (Group B) cargo.
Revised lists: The list of solid bulk cargoes exempted from fixed gas fire-extinguishing systems has been updated, and the list of non-cohesive cargoes has been revised.
